Governor Pence makes first solo appearance as Vice President candidate in Indiana
Online mockery of Donald Trump’s new, “phallic” logo appears to have resulted in the design being shelved by his campaign team.

Less than a day after revealing a suggestive logo for his campaign, Donald Trump released a new one Saturday when he formally announced Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate.
“I call her ‘Crooked Hillary.’ She’s crooked Hillary”, he said.
For 15 minutes, Indiana Governor Mike Pence captivated an audience still trying to figure him out. As vice-presidential rollouts go, many agree that this was a odd and chaotic affair.
The surprisingly poignant remark came on the heels of a long, rambling introduction from Trump that talked about nearly every topic except Mike Pence for the majority of the speech. Taking the opportunity to extract revenge, Clinton took to Twitter (video below) and highlighted how Pence was left, well, short-changed (no pun intended).
Commenting on the violence throughout the world this week ― from the terrorist attack in Nice, France, to the attempted coup in Turkey ― Trump again vowed to “declare war against ISIS” and was critical of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, of which the United States and Turkey are both members.
“It was the single greatest non-endorsement I’ve ever had in my life”, Trump said Saturday.
“Back to Mike Pence”, he said. “And this campaign, and Donald Trump’s candidacy, has been about the issues the American people care about”.
Word that Pence would be joining the Republican ticket began trickling out in news reports Thursday before Trump had made a final decision or called Pence to offer him the job, according to a Republican familiar with the situation.
As Pence arrived for a private meeting with Trump on Friday, he told reporters he “couldn’t be more happy for the opportunity to run with and serve with the next president of the United States”. “And it’s never going to stop”, the 70-year-old real estate tycoon said.
Described as an “awkward marriage” and “painful train-wreck”, the interview on CBS’s 60 Minutes show aired on Sunday, just hours before the Republican National Convention is due to open in Cleveland. “A lot of information was given to people, but I was against the war in Iraq from the beginning”.
To which Pence added, “I really do believe when the American people elect one of the best negotiators in the world as president of the United States, we would do well”. Trump also said of Pence and Clinton, “He’s entitled to make a mistake every once in a while”. He’s been critical of Trump’s proposed temporary ban on foreign Muslims entering the USA, calling the idea “offensive and unconstitutional”.

Lee says by picking Pence, Trump is clearly appealing to any traditional conservatives still uncomfortable with Trump.
