Attacking Trump, Democrat Kaine makes campaign-trail debut

However, Kaine has received skepticism by progressives for his support in the global trade deals, and his vote in favor of giving President Obama authority on the Trans-Pacific Partnership, according to an article published by The New York Times.

In his first joint interview with Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton, vice presidential pick Tim Kaine described himself Sunday as a “utility player” who “hadn’t missed a rung” on his slow and steady ascent through the political ranks.

“It is ridiculous”, he said, referring to chants that broke out repeatedly at last week’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Kaine wasn’t the only national security figure Clinton was considering, a sign of the importance she places on the issue substantively and as a line of attack against Trump.

The tour will continue Saturday evening and Sunday in Ohio.

After Sanders’ endorsement for Clinton’s campaign, Clinton’s delegates are hoping they can change the opinions of those pledged to Sanders, District 4 Clinton delegate Charlotte Martin said.

The schedule will include a combination of large rallies and small events, with retail politicking mixed in at times.

“He was wonderful. I didn’t know he could sing”, said Beth Przygocki, who attended mass just to see Kaine.

“It felt very sad”, she said in her first interview with newly anointed running mate Sen.

OH and Pennsylvania stand as two huge targets in the November election.

“Tim and I found our way to this parish nearly by accident”, Holton said.

Appearing with Clinton two days before the launch of the Democratic convention in Philadelphia, Kaine focused much of his speech on distinguishing Clinton, who was present and appeared more at ease than she has during much of her campaign to become the Democratic nominee, and her Republican counterpart, Donald Trump.

Parishioners of the diverse St. Elizabeth Catholic Church hugged Kaine and his wife. “We needed some prayers today and we got some prayers and we got support and it really feels good”.

Norman Solomon, a delegate who supports Bernie Sanders, says there is talk among Sanders’ delegates of walking out during Kaine’s acceptance speech or turning their backs as a show of protest.

Sanders forced the former Secretary of State into opposing the global trade deal she once supported during the campaign, arguing – as Trump trumpeted over and over at the Republican convention this week – that it will cost American jobs. “We will offer a very different vision for our country, one that is about building bridges not walls”, she said. “The time is now Debbie Wasserman Schultz to step aside”. But to do that, she must overcome lingering bitterness among supporters of defeated rival Bernie Sanders and a political mess and last-minute leadership shake-up of the party’s own making.

Like President Obama, however, Clinton would also face challenges in Congress in getting her agenda enacted.

“Robby Mook says on CNN’s ‘State of the Union” that experts are telling the campaign “Russian state actors” broke into the DNC’s emails, and that other experts say these Russians are now selectively releasing the emails.
