White Sox P Chris Sale apologizes for jersey incident
After it was confirmed that Sale was neither traded nor ill, the White Sox released a statement referring to a “clubhouse incident” that spurred the scratch.

While Sale is saying some of the right things, his actions have repeatedly shown the White Sox organization that maybe he doesn’t want to be on the South Side.
The incident does raise some questions in general about throwback uniforms, how players feel about them and whether they should be forced to wear jerseys that aren’t comfortable – particularly starting pitchers. “That’s get ready to play baseball and put everything I got into winning that game”, Sale told the website. I know that all of this is impossible to do in just a week before the deadline, so sit tight. So that’s all that matters to me. “We’re gonna deal with that internally and we’ll officially discuss that when he gets back here at some point”. He is eligible to return Thursday against the crosstown Cubs at Wrigley Field, though Hahn would not say if the left-hander would start that game. “That’s what he does”.
Sale was scratched from his scheduled start and sent home after allegedly expressing his displeasure over having to wear the team’s 1976 throwback uniforms.
Sale reportedly took a knife to the club’s 1976 throwback uniforms because he did not like the untucked style of the shirts.
“(The ’76 uniforms) are uncomfortable and unorthodox.
Sale added: “When I saw that there was something in the way of that 100 per cent winning mentality, I had an issue”. “I tried to bring it up and say, ‘Hey listen, these are my thoughts and concerns, ‘ and they got pushed away because of the business deal that was set in place. I didn’t want to go out there and not be at the top of my game in every aspect that I need to be in”. “For them to put business first over winning, that’s when I lost it”.
“I play 33 times a year at most in the regular season”.
“I don’t think I would be traded”, Sale said, per Merkin. “When I can’t or don’t do that, yeah, I have disappointment in myself for not being there for my guys”. While I understand that this comparison is loose, and should be, I think what we are seeing come from this organization has gotten out of hand, and something must be done in order to win. In spring training, Sale blasted management for restricting the clubhouse access of then-first baseman Adam LaRoche’s 14-year-old son.
Sale didn’t sound like someone who wanted to be shipped out of the Windy City, either: “I want to win a championship in Chicago”.

Right-hander Anthony Ranaudo will start against the Cubs on Wednesday instead of right-hander Jacob Turner, who gave up 12 earned runs over 7 1/3 innings in two starts. He has been your best player for the last few seasons and he is no prima donna as he has averaged close to 200 innings a year and when he has the opportunity will finish games he’s started with 11 career complete games in a sport that is becoming more specialized by the inning- witness bullpens with relievers with distinct roles for the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.
