New England boss Sam Allardyce slams misconceptions of his style of play
He has made no secret down the years that he would like a crack at leading his beloved England, from when he first took Bolton into the top-flight it was a role he thought would suit him.

He had been the favourite for the job since Sunderland confirmed last week that they had given the FA permission to speak to their manager about the vacant England position.
He said: “Bring it on, hey lads. I think they should be much more capable of being adaptable”. You either take the good with the bad or don’t bother.
Allardyce told reporters: “The bonding of the team is exceptionally important and trying to create a good team spirit and to have some fun”.
The former Bolton Wanderers, West Ham United and Sunderland boss has taken over the reins of the Three Lions following England’s early departure from the European Championships in France.
“I can turn things around quickly and get amongst staff and create a successful journey and that starts by us all pulling together”.
“I will exploit all areas for the benefit of the players”. I’ve managed in there for such a long time that I know I can achieve at that level.
“They have a huge amount of experience that they will not want to feel this time around”.
Working with the England elite players is going to be exiting for me.
“It is the first day getting my feet under the table and meeting everyone”. “There is no point me looking at the bigger picture yet until I’ve overcome these stages”.
Whatever you think of Allardyce, it’s nice to see someone who has worked his way through many clubs, and many divisions, get a tilt at a big job. It’s obviously different and much more streamlined with this development and site [St George’s Park]. “This squad going forward will be producing more and producing better results”.
“I think it’s a bit of a myth in some cases [about his style of play]”.
Allardyce boasts a wealth of experience in the Premier League, having managed five top-flight clubs, but he is often accused of playing a negative brand of football.
“I choose styles or systems depending on the players available and who we’re playing”.
Allardyce also said that selecting a captain for the England team is way down on the list of priorities.
“There is no lack of passion, I don’t see that anywhere from the players”, Allardyce refuted.
“I won’t suggest it’s rock bottom”, he said of player morale in the wake of Euro 2016.
But I played with Jermain Defoe down the middle on his own at 5ft 10in previous year.
“Who we play against will determine how we play”.
New England manager Sam Allardyce believes the job has come at the right time for him.
The fact Allardyce will work primarily at the national training complex was one which was vital to the FA – and the new man buys into the logistics of that.

“It is not potential anymore, it has to be reality and they have to stand up and be counted. Players should keep that, they should hold it and use it as a positive, say “we don’t want to experience that again”, he said in an interview with FATV. “One – to help the players enjoy themselves and two – to make them better than they already are”.
