Apple ‘Likely’ to Roll Out iPhones With Iris Sensors in 2018

The impending release of the iPhone 7 may not be as exciting as previous iPhone releases, but the rumors we’ve been hearing about the iPhone 8 strongly suggest that Apple still hasn’t lost its innovative edge, notwithstanding what some pundits might otherwise have you believe.

According to the DigiTimes, Apple might be looking to offer the Iris scanner on their upcoming 2018 Apple iPhone 8 model.

These are all challenges that Apple needs to deal if it really wants to bring an iPhone with iris scanning capabilities to the market, so it’ll be interesting to see both Cupertino and Samsung fighting over what’s becoming the latest trend for smartphones. Whether it will be good or not, however, doesn’t change the fact that the road has been paved for more devices to come out with iris scanner locks, hopefully improving on the technology in the process. Would you feel comfortable using your iris to secure your iPhone or Mac? They are expected to release the iPhone 7 this year, and the iPhone 7s variants next year. While it is hard to copy a fingerprint, it’s impossible for hackers to access unique iris features. If Apple eventually decides to use the new security feature, it will still likely be for making payments using the device or as a way to unlock the smartphone.

Apple was said to be actively investigating iris scanning technology since 2014.

Even KGI security analyst Ming-Chi Kuo earlier predicted Apple’s 2017 iPhone model might incorporate biometric recognitions either facial or iris.
