Lightning strikes Empire State Building amid severe storms
And it wasn’t long before the storm turned menacing and the city’s iconic Empire State Building was struck by lightning.

Henrik Moltke of The Intercept uploaded a video of the thunderstorm on YouTube and posted pictures on Twitter with the caption “Boom”.
Humidity and high temperatures in the early 90s are expected to continue in NY this week and will cool off at the weekend.
And when I say a little bit, I mean it totally dumped.
Large strikes of lightning could be seen all over the five boroughs.
The 102-story Empire State Building is a veritable lightning rod – it is struck around 23 times per year, but the action is less rarely caught on camera. In case you didn’t know, thunder is the sound of lightning, so as soon as you hear any rumblings, get to a safe area indoors!

But, lightning striking the Empire State building is actually more common than you’d think.
