The Iranian foreign ministry today denied USA accusations that three Al-Qaeda operatives were in Iran, helping to move money and weapons around the Middle East, according to media reports.

Iran, a Shia Muslim theocracy, considers al Qaeda a terrorist group and Iranian security forces periodically report the arrest of al Qaeda members.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi was quoted as saying that Iran doesn’t have “any information about their presence on its soil”.

He meanwhile advises the U.S. government to avoid making a sweeping generalization and share accurate information to provide coordinated worldwide action against terrorist groups.

He added that Iran maintained firm anti-terrorist determination according to its global commitments.

The US Treasury named the three alleged operatives as Faisal Jassim Mohammed al-Amri al-Khalidi, Yisra Muhammad Ibrahim Bayumi and Abu Bakr Muhammad Muhammad Ghumayn.
