This movie is pure summer entertainment and, when that iconic theme song starts cranking, it’s hard to keep yourself from getting sucked right along into it. Just sit back, go along for the ride and promise not to think too much about it. Mission accomplished. Each subsequent film was helmed by a new director who added his own personal brand: John Woo’s liberal use of slow-motion cinematography, J.J. Abrams’s labyrinthine blend of flashbacks and double-crossing, Brad Bird’s light touch with action that turned climbing the Burj Khalifa into a high-wire comedy act.

What Rogue Nation does have are tension and momentum, from beginning to end-and those pretty much outweigh everything else. It doesn’t have the flash of Mission: Impossible III, the slow motion of Mission: Impossible II or novelty of the original Mission: Impossible either.

Recently, Collider speculated that the rush in the production schedule may be due to Cruises’ advancing age.

During the interview, Stewart also probed Cruise on how to achieve the flawless bod for, not an impossible, but, let’s be serious, an intermediate-to-beginner mission. “They will be throwing me out of planes in my wheelchair at that point, so whatever it takes, we’ll keep going”, Cruise jokingly told E! on Tuesday. As he digs deeper into the mystery, Hunt is branded a fugitive and his Impossible Mission Force team is disbanded.
