A chaotic scene showed many protesters locking arms and holding their ground, as police officers grabbed them one-by-one, pulling them away from the gate.

After the latest announcement that those who don’t leave would be arrested, protesters have started gathering their belongings.

Summit Avenue had been reopened for about a week until protesters moved back into the street over the weekend.

Demonstrations have taken place outside Gov. Mark Dayton’s mansion on that street on and off since the death of Castile, who was shot by a police officer in Falcon Heights during a traffic stop on July 6. He says the officers coming with batons and riot helmets in hand was another intimidating tactic.

Castile’s sister, Allysza Castile, briefly spoke to protesters Sunday, saying she loved them.

Police say the group of about 30 people has been a nuisance in the neighborhood. “We have to use that energy to convince Americans that there is a problem”.
