According to initial details, four gunmen on two motorcycles opened fire on a military vehicle near the Parking plaza in Saddar close to the congested Empress market area.
Dr. Seemi Jamali at Jinnah Hospital says multiple bullets hit both the soldiers in the shoulder, neck and head.
It is worth to mention that this was the second attack on intelligence agencies in Karachi in six months.
“Two jawans belonging to a security institution were attacked in their vehicle”.
Evidences were also collected from the crime scene and sources indicated that three witnesses were also taken into custody by the police.
“We are trying to obtain CCTV footage in order to find clues about the assailants”, he said.
When asked, he said that police would try to “ascertain if there are links to any such earlier shooting incidents in the city”.
The terrorists riding a motorbike opened fire on an army vehicle and fled away.
“9mm weapon was used in the attack”.
Khattab said that the attackers approached the vehicle from the rear and attacked the personnel from the left side of the vehicle.
In December previous year, two soldiers of the Pakistan army were killed after their vehicle was sacked upon by unidentified gunmen at the MA Jinnah Road of the city.
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif took notice of the incident and condemned it. Prime Minister directed Sindh government to apprehend those behind the incident as soon as possible. He said “terrorists” will not be spared at any cost and the Karachi operation will continue until the militant threat is eliminated.
