Rumor has it that Migaloo has a son-another rare white whale who is the topic of many whale watching conversations.

The albino is said to have been migrating from Antarctica to warmer tropical waters to mate, which is an annual affair for the whale.

Migaloo the whale continues to tease Australians with brief, unsuspecting appearances. He was now believed to be around 30 years old.

She had been waiting 20 years to see a white whale in person. Since then, he’s been cruising at a steady pace towards the Gold Coast from Byron Bay. Trevor Long, director of marine sciences at Sea World, has his doubts. Migaloo was spotted swimming with another whale about 18km off the coast of Byron on Tuesday, south of the Gold Coast. “It’s a smaller animal and doesn’t have the same degree of damage and yellowing [as Migaloo]”.

A Sea World Whale Watch spokeswoman told AAP he was off the coast of Coffs Harbour on Sunday and he’s averaging about 2.7km nautical miles per hour. However, the White Whale Research Centre, that runs the Twitter account of Migaloo the Whale, has urged people in the area to respect Migaloo’s privacy and keep their distance.

Migaloo was spotted off the coast of Coolangatta about 3pm
