Authorities believe the shooting is connected to a crash that happened early Monday morning. He says the driver circled around and chased the man heading northbound on I-85.

The warrants were issued in Chambers County, AL when during the course of the investigation it was discovered that the shooting took place just north of the Lee County line in Chambers County.

While they were chasing him, the auto hit a retaining wire in the median before an 18-wheeler crashed into them. However, Jones said they discovered a female passenger in the vehicle had been shot and killed. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, who Jones called a person of interest, then fled the scene. Jones said at some point, Moore jumped from the auto and then onto a passing 18-wheeler.

Sheriff Jones said the driver and passengers are all from metro Atlanta, and before the crash it’s believed the four were headed south to Florida for work.

According to the Lee County coroner, the woman, who has not been identified, was shot and killed this morning at approximately 1:20 a.m. while the auto she was in traveled southbound on the interstate. A struggle ensued in the backseat and the man jumped from the moving auto as it slowed, Jones said. The two men turned around to look for him and crashed near Andrews Road in Lee County, according to Jones.

The crash shut down a lane on I-85 that has since been reopened. He was later detained in the nearby town of Valley, Jones said.
