Alan Pardew admitted “I thought I picked the wrong team” at one stage of Crystal Palace’s 3-1 win over Norwich, but was happy with the performance.

Socceroo captain Mile Jedinak has hailed Crystal Palace’s capture of Yohan Cabaye but insists the arrival of the France global won’t force him out of the EPL club. At Newcastle, at times, it was hard for me to implement the transfers into my agenda because the agenda was different.

“We looked comfortable until we made a tiny error and it is 2-1 and then the game is in the balance, Norwich perhaps had a great couple of moments, and the margins are that small”. I think the crux of our season may well be the start because it’s very, very tough – the toughest of any Premier League side, in my opinion.

Then, with Norwich pushing for an equaliser in the latter stages, Cameron Jerome had a goal disallowed for an alleged high boot and Sebastien Bassong was felled in the penalty area by Connor Wickham but referee Simon Hooper went against the home side on both occasions.

Eagles boss Alan Pardew, who was appointed in January and guided the club he once played for to a 10th-placed finish last season, believes the squad is now streetwise for the challenges ahead. We were always kind of in control.

But Palace grew into the game and after John Ruddy had saved at close range from Glenn Murray, they took the lead in the 39th minute when Jason Puncheon’s right-wing cross was adroitly dispatched on the volley by Zaha.

Sergio Romero was in goal after Van Gaal decided that Real Madrid target David de Gea was not in the right frame of mind to play. He will not go anywhere unless his value is met.’.

“Joel did brilliantly”, Delaney said.

The Hammers is about the same strength as that of Crystal Palace and Neil and his men could not have found a more suitable sparring partner to prepare them for their opener. “Unfortunately that didn’t happen for us”. Not many people would have stuck their head in there because we all saw Cammy lining up an overhead kick long before it was there. Alternatively, you can back the draw at 23/10 with Ladbrokes and if you fancy Palace to start their season with a win, you can get 2/1 with Bet365.

“By all accounts Seb should have had a penalty towards the end of the game, but we did not help ourselves at time with defending, which was extremely sloppy”.
