Police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said police received a telephone threat sometime this afternoon, but what that threat entailed was not yet clear. The team said “no evidence was found to suggest this threat was credible”, and they were working with authorities to find the person who was responsible.
All media and Wrigley Field staff were ordered to leave the stadium around 6 p.m., according to Kelly Crull, a reporter for Comcast SportsNet.
Police were on the scene sweeping the ballpark with K-9 units, but no threats were found.
Police finished their investigation just after 7 p.m., and reporters and Wrigley Field staff were allowed back into stadium.
