Bernie Sanders Technically Still Hasn’t Suspended His Campaign

Breaking a historic barrier, Hillary Clinton triumphantly captured the Democratic nomination for president Tuesday night, the first woman ever to lead a major political party into the general election.

“So it is with a full heart that I’m here today to nominate Hillary Clinton to be the first woman president”, Ms Mikulski said.

Mr Sanders endorsed Mrs Clinton, a former first lady and USA senator, but some of his supporters protested in Philadelphia against the party leadership’s apparent backing of her during the bitter Democratic primary fight.

As Mikulski herself pointed out during her nomination speech, she “broke a barrier” when she became the first Democratic woman elected in the Senate in her own right in 1986 – meaning that she wasn’t appointed and didn’t succeed a husband who previously held the seat. Others included President Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle Obama. He would move for Clinton to be acclaimed the party nominee unanimously, his spokesman Michael Briggs said Tuesday.

NBC News, citing unnamed sources, reported that Vermont will seek to go last in the roll call of states.

“We’re not sore losers”, said Elayne Petrucci from Detroit, sitting up in the MI delegation in the stands at the Wells Fargo Centre.

On his website, Sanders is still soliciting for donations to his campaign.

Hillary Clinton has one big advantage over Donald Trump heading into November: hindsight. “It is about transforming the country”. Now, the media doesn’t like talking about the real issues.

Sanders has raised money for Wasserman Schultz’s primary opponent, Tim Canova.

Obama did so most effectively with a personal, deeply affecting “think of the children” speech that brought down the house and will be long remembered. “It’s not”, he said. “We’re going to support this guy, Canova. He’s a good candidate”.

Direct hit Comedian Sarah Silverman, a Bernie supporter and Hillary convert, delivered the most direct hit on the uncompromising Sanders supporters from the convention stage.

“To the “Bernie or Bust” people, you’re being ridiculous!” she said in an unscripted line, setting off more “Bernie!” chants and “Hillary!” counter- chants echoing around the hall.

He was booed by his own supporters again yesterday at a breakfast meeting of Californian Democrats when he called on them to beat Trump by voting for Clinton.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Clinton supporter, praised Sanders for his primary run, for throwing his support behind Clinton, and for “keeping his eye on the ball”.
