USA election: Hillary Clinton gains Democratic presidential nomination
Former Nevada State Assemblywoman talks to VH1’s Carri Twigg about the email controversy regarding Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Senator Bernie Sanders at the Democratic National Convention. Sanders took the stage to a sustained roar and shouts of “We love you, Bernie”. “I’m not condoning that, I’m not encouraging that, but I recognize that that’s a reality that we have to deal with”. “We’re moving about this as if it is business as usual; this is not business as usual”.

Many of those delegates were wondering what’s next for Sanders and the loyal liberal movement he built during the a year ago. Gone was the speculation by pundits that Sanders might take his revolution, and the millions of voters who have followed him, past the primary, hampering Hillary Clinton’s election chances. To woo independents, however, Clinton can’t alienate independents and Republicans who are more fiscally conservative.
“Now, whether you supported me or you supported Secretary Clinton, we all know what our task is, and that is to make sure that Donald Trump is not elected president of the United States”. And there’s probably not a ton of overlap between Sanders’ fan base and Cuomo’s: after all, Cuomo was challenged from the left by Zephyr Teachout in a 2014 primary that saw the upstart candidate, whose platform had much in common with Sanders’, net a third of the vote. The governor has always been considered more of a centrist who has worked closely with the Senate’s Republican leadership, leading some Democrats to fume over his reluctance to actively campaign to flip the body to Democrats (a priority of Mayor Bill de Blasio, with whom the governor has feuded). She acknowledged a segment of Sanders supporters who were “really angry”. “And when you pass paid family and medical leave it means that when a mom has a baby she can stay home with that baby”. Nina Turner for vice president, as an alternative to Hillary Clinton’s pick of U.S. Sen.
Lewis said the Democrats broke barriers by selecting the first black man, President Barack Obama, to be commander-in-chief in 2008.
Bernie Sanders has formed a new organization to support down-ballot candidates nationwide and says he doesn’t plan to raise money for former rival Hillary Clinton. “I think we’re going to register somewhere around 1,900 votes tonight. We must change them”, Kay said.
However, Sanders’ backers ran out of time to get the necessary paperwork to enter the alternative candidate’s name, said Donna Smith, executive director of Progressive Democrats of America.
“They have zero in common, in my opinion”, he said of Cuomo and Sanders.
But Bill Clinton and the others – who include mothers who have lost children to gun violence or in clashes with police – will also have the unstated mission of mending fences with Sanders’ army of vocal young activists.
Some of his supporters have struggled with that message, interrupting some convention speakers and delegate breakfasts.
Meanwhile Tuesday, Democratic Senate campaign officials said they’re talking with Sanders about how he can help their efforts to retake the Senate majority this fall.

Tensions boiled over at the Texas delegation breakfast, after Russell Lytle, a Bernie Sanders delegate from Denton, took the stage and suggested condemning “our now presumptive nominee”. And the Democrats’ main foe, Donald Trump, mounted fresh attacks in North Carolina Tuesday. “I’m not going to have Trump held up to our head like a gun”. “I think the prime issue is between the working class of American versus the corporatist class”.
