Kurt Coleman successfully rehabilitated his value over the past two seasons and will be rewarded because of it.

The Panthers have agreed to terms with Coleman on a three-year extension, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via a source informed of the situation. He stood to make $2.18 million this season.

He intercepted seven passes, which doubled as his career high and the second-highest total in the league last season, while making 88 tackles – third on the Panthers during regular-season play.

With the Panthers’ secondary now in makeover mode, coaches are depending on the 7-year veteran to help bring along younger players like Boston and one of the most inexperienced cornerback groups in the league.

As Rapoport noted, Coleman made only $1.3 million last season.

Kurt Coleman came to the panthers previous year being reunited with defensive coordinator Sean McDermott from their days with the Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s going to be all the more important for Coleman to play at a high level in 2016 and beyond, since Carolina lost Norman to Washington after rescinding his franchise tag offer.
