Hillary Clinton wins historic USA presidential nomination
Democrats made Hillary Clinton the first female presidential nominee of a major party in the nation’s history on Tuesday, shattering one of the last remaining glass ceilings in American politics.

After a hectic start on Day 1 of the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia – with speeches by Michelle Obama, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders trying to unite the party – Day 2’s theme is “A Lifetime of Fighting for Children and Families”.
Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) drew loud applause as she placed Clinton’s name into nomination. Bernie Sanders, was present during Tuesday’s roll call vote.
The Sanders supporters are caught up in the emotion of a movement that Mr. Sanders – a socialist and independent who joined the Democratic Party only after he chose to run for the party’s nomination – billed as a “revolution”.
But don’t be surprised if Bernie Sanders also plays a role tonight during the roll call – something potentially similar to what Clinton did in 2008 for Barack Obama.
Sanders gave a full-throated endorsement of Clinton Monday night, and Tuesday, when speaking to California delegates, he admonished those who would boo Clinton.
“Bill Clinton doesn’t like to move to the locker room”, said Clinton campaign manager John Podesta, who recalled the former president editing his 2004 speech on the way to the convention hall. Clinton supporters see her Washington credentials – she has also been a USA senator ± as showing she has the experience needed for the White House.
The roll call behind them, the Clinton camp looked to former president Bill Clinton, former US attorney general Eric Holder, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and a host of other speakers to energize the crowd and begin to forge a bond strong enough to unite the party.
Clinton, who promises to tackle income inequality and rein in Wall Street if she becomes president, is eager to portray Trump, a businessman and former reality TV show host, as too unstable to sit in the Oval Office.
Although most people who identify as Democrats or lean toward the Democratic Party have a favorable opinion of Hillary Clinton, that view isn’t almost universal.
Sometimes, the person who makes the formal nomination can simply be a close ally of the candidate.
Clinton says he finally asked her to walk to an art museum. She said she believed Clinton’s campaign “threatened” him into it or else he’d risk losing Monday night’s keynote address and the progressive platform planks he pushed for. She said she would never vote for Clinton under any circumstances. Clinton’s campaign said two members of law enforcement also are on the convention schedule. He feels people should know her as well as he does, and is writing the speech himself, said an aide to the former president.
“Hillary Clinton has the passion and understanding to support grieving mothers”, said Sybrina Fulton, whose son Trayvon Martin was killed in 2012. The meeting occurred just days before she said the government would not prosecute Hillary Clinton for using a private email server as secretary of state.
“You could drop her into any trouble spot – pick one – come back in a month, and somehow, some way she will have made it better”, Bill argued, noting Hillary had a track record of crossing party lines to get the job done. Sanders has endorsed Clinton, and the main party leaders all planned to attend.

Quiet echoes of the acrimony that marked the first day of the convention were still heard in the arena, with some Sanders supporters booing when Clinton was mentioned.
