Champion wrestler Narsingh Yadav’s family members are out on the streets in Varanasi demanding a CBI inquiry into the role of vested interests in Yadav testing positive for a banned substance earlier this month. We can’t decide alone, we are trying to ensure that none of our athletes test positive for dope in Rio.
An FIR has been filed on Yadav’s complaint, reported The Times of India, and it is a 17-year-old junior wrestler who has emerged as a suspect in the case. The younger brother of an worldwide wrestler in the super-heavyweight category allegedly infiltrated Narsingh’s room and contaminated his food supplements. It seems that the boy had entered Yadav’s room and spiked his food supplements with the banned drug.
Shot-putter Inderjeet Singh Tuesday became the second Indian athlete to fail a drugs test in recent days, embroiling the nation’s Olympic squad in a doping scandal before next month’s Rio Games. Wrestling Federation of India and Olympic medalist Yogeshwar Dutt are among those who have come out in support of the grappler.
In November, the wrestler Narsingh Yadavhad won bronze medal b winning qualification round at the world championships held in Las Vegas in November. The most up-to-date list of all entries for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro can be found on the United World Wrestling site under the tab “RIO 2016”, they added.
Narsingh had booked quota place for India in 74 kg freestyle category.

Fadnavis further said, “Hence I request you to kindly look personally into this case and to go into the depth of the incidence”. I believe, in that letter (to WFI and the Sports Ministry) too, he has named some people as conspirators – again without any proof.
