Porsche to Hire More Than 1400 Employees for Electric Car
Apparently the 1,000 people that the automaker got on board for the EV isn’t going to be enough – another 400 vacancies have been opened up to help develop and produce the zero-emissions sizzler worth 600hp. It is announced previously that the company would hire 1000 employees to work on the vehicle at it hometown Zuffenhausen, Stuttgart, Germany.

Porsche is also seeking about 100 information-technology specialists, 50 digital experts and more apprentices, part of an industrywide hiring push as vehicle makers try to compete with the likes of Google and Apple in connected-car technology.
Additionally, the company also plans to improve the skills of the current workforce, as more production facilities today include robots to assist human workers with hard tasks.
Annual production of the all-electric Porsche is said to be 15,000 cars per year.
Based on the low-slung Mission E concept shown at last September’s Frankfurt auto show, the electric vehicle will be produced at a new facility near the storied factory that manufactures the Porsche 911 sports vehicle.
The Porsche Mission E is expected to have around 600 horsepower and will have a 0 to 62 miles per hour time of just 3.5 seconds, it will have a range of around 300 miles. While the company declined to specify production targets, Hueck did say that they would need to sell 10,000 units per year to make a profit. He further added that the company plans to use battery technology from Stuttgart-based Robert Bosch GmbH and would handle final assembly of the battery systems.

Currently Porsche has 26,200 employees – that number doubled since 2010 to keep-up with demand for the Cayenne and Macan.
