AAP MLA Naresh Yadav sent to judicial custody in Quran desecration case

Aam Adami Party MLA Naresh Yadav was today sent to judicial custody till August 1.The Malerkotla court of Preeti Sukhija refused to extend the police remand.

One of the acussed said that he had done sacrilege act at the order of AAP Legislator Naresh Yadav.

“If Badals think that they can harm our votebank, they are mistaken”. The court had issued arrest warrants against him on the basis of evidences produced by the Punjab police in the court.

Protesting against the arrest of Yadav, who is himself an advocate, the Bar associations in Punjab observed a day’s strike and the courts in such districts did not work.

Earlier on July 24 Naresh Yadav was arrested from Mehrauli. We have moved a bail application hearing of which will take place on Thursday. Vijay Kumar during his interrogation had also told the police that he had torn the pages of holy book at the behest of Naresh Yadav. Naresh had been questioned by the Punjab police in Patiala and later in Sangrur.

The AAP is posing a tough challenge to the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance and the opposition Congress in the run-up to the assembly polls.

Earlier, AAP spokesperson Ashish Khetan had landed in trouble when he compared the party’s manifesto to the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the religious scripture of the Sikhs.
