Center Parcs welcomes Longford village go-ahead
The company, which has its headquarters in Ollerton and was ranked as Nottinghamshire’s 12th largest company in the Post’s Top 200 Companies publication, plans to develop a 395-acre site near Ballymahon in County Longford – creating its sixth village and first outside of the UK.

Center Parcs CEO Martin Dalby said: “Today’s announcement marks another significant milestone in the history of Center Parcs”.
It’s expected a new holiday village in county Longford – creating over a thousand new jobs – will open in 2019.
The board granted planning permission with 21 conditions including that the proposed lodges shall only be used as short-term tourist accommodation and that Biodiversity Action Plan incorporating a Woodland Management Plan shall be submitted.
“We outlined from day one the transformative impact that Center Parcs Longford Forest will have on the midlands region in both tourism and economic terms”.
United Kingdom based family holiday provider Center Parcs has vowed to create 1,000 full and part time jobs with the opening of a 395 acre site at Newcastle Wood in 2019. There will also be treehouses, a spa, restaurants and a sub tropical pool area with water slides.
The company expects that most of the roles will be filled by employees between the ages of 18 and 24, with the majority of them likely to live locally and in the surrounding midlands region.
Center Parcs has been given the go-ahead to build its first village outside of the United Kingdom after being granted planning permission for a new site in Ireland.
The company a year ago revealed plans for the new resort which will include up to 500 lodges, more than 100 indoor and outdoor activities, a spa, a range of restaurants and cafés, and the iconic Subtropical Swimming Paradise.
Center Parcs estimates that, when operational, the new holiday village will add approximately €32 million to Ireland’s GDP per annum.
