DNC party chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz draws jeers, won’t appear at convention

The Democratic Convention got off to a rather bumpy start. But that wasn’t good enough for Florida delegates, who booed her offstage during a breakfast session Monday morning.

Mayhem exploded against U.S. Rep.

Wasserman Schultz announced she’s now working for the Hillary Clinton campaign.

In a statement laying out the goals of this election cycle she wrote: “The best way for me to accomplish those goals is to step down as Party Chair at the end of this convention”.

The hard feelings between supporters of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hilary Clinton and challenger Bernie Sanders deepened over the weekend with the release of Democratic National Committee documents by Wikileaks.

Hours before she was to gavel in the Democratic National Convention, the Florida congresswoman was met by raucous activists who accused her of favoring Hillary Clinton over vanquished rival Bernie Sanders. He calls resigning a “wise decision”.

Of all the people to have betrayed Israel and the Jewish people over the Iran deal, Debbie Wasserman Schultz was near the top.

Sanders told his delegates Monday that Wasserman Schultz’s departure would “open the doors of the party to people who want real change”. He said he hoped she would be stripped of her speaking role at the convention.

That wish was granted after she was booed and heckled by her fellow Floridians.

Still, many Sanders supporters were not satisfied. Her own supporters yelled back, standing on chairs and waving T-shirts bearing her name.

“We have to make sure that we move together in a unified way”. Many expressed dismay that Clinton has given Wasserman Schultz the position of honorary chair of her campaign’s “50-state program”. “The Florida that we know is united”. After her remarks, she left the room and New Jersey Sen. Already on Sunday, hundreds of Bernie Sanders supporters gathered to march through the City center.

Mook said the dissent within the Democratic Party doesn’t compare with the divisions Republicans displayed during their convention last week in Cleveland and that it won’t hurt Clinton’s chances in November. Basically all of these examples came late in the primary – after Hillary Clinton was clearly headed for victory – but they belie the national party committee’s stated neutrality in the race even at that late stage.

“I sincerely apologize, my friends, for those of you who took offense and were offended, for those of you who feel betrayed and were betrayed by the ridiculous and insensitive and inappropriate emails from the staff of the Democratic Party”, Brazile said during a meeting of the black caucus at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

“We know Debbie. No one has been more of a fighter and a champion for our values than Debbie Wasserman Schultz”.

“She was using DNC resources to monitor what my campaign was doing, how it was doing”, he said.

And in his rebuttal of Clinton, he also referred to another Clinton VP contender, Elizabeth Warren, whom he’s coined “Pocahontas” for her claims of Native American heritage.

“We don’t have information right now about that, but what we have is a kind of bromance going on between Vladimir Putin and Trump which is distinct from this leak”, Clinton adviser John Podesta said in an MSNBC interview.
