We last saw dad Hershel Layton, his young ward Luke and others in Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, which launched stateside in 2014.

The series, which began with Professor Layton and the Curious Village for Nintendo DS in 2007, modernises traditional point-and-click adventure gameplay, blending sprawling narratives with increasingly complex Brain Training-style puzzles.

Nintendo is yet to mention anything about a potential western release, so we’ll be sure to update you once we know more.

As reported by Gematsu, Catriel is described as a “Jack-of-all-trades, riddle-solving detective”. From looking for someone’s pet cat to exposing the criminal in a murder case, she’ll take on any job. She originally started working as a detective to find her father, who suddenly disappeared, but she continues to work to solve a variety of mysteries in town. The good news is that if you have enjoyed the franchise, you’ll be pleased to learn that we have a new game that will be joining it.
