LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye injured in deadly auto crash
(For details on the accident, read this story on the accident’s sole survivor from the Baton Rouge Advocate.) They were in the area to be instructors at a kicking camp in nearby Wales. Foltz and Sadler were pronounced dead at the scene, while Delahoussaye suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A 2nd traveler, LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye, 21, of New Iberia, Louisiana, was carried by ambulance to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for treatment. Both Sam and Mike were serving as staff here this weekend at our National Scholarship Camp in Southern Wisconsin.
“Our prayers of love and support go out to Sam’s family during this hard time and we will do all that we can to help comfort them in this time of sadness”, Athletic Director, Shawn Eichorst added.
The group chose to leave for Meyer’s home about 11:30 p.m. “We are deeply shocked and saddened to hear the extremely tragic news about Mike Sadler’s death”.
“We ended up getting home before them and we didn’t know where they were”, Meyer said.
A star college football player bound for Stanford Law School this fall was killed Saturday after he lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree.
“Sam and Mike each had incredible careers as student-athletes in the Big Ten Conference, but more importantly they were tremendous men off the field”, Jamie Kohl, director of the camp, said in a statement. But after 20 minutes or so Drew and I chose to go back out and see if we could find them. We were hoping that they were OK. They have more important things to worry about than who they think will be their toughest opponent of the season.
Flames that scorched the LSU kicker’s left thigh woke him from an unconscious state leading to his escape from Saturday night’s fiery vehicle crash in Wisconsin, an event that left two dead.
“Everyone in the kicking industry respected Mike”.
On Sam’s own Twitter account, there is a picture of him running in some sort of race, and as he’s looking straight ahead and smiling, a young boy is running alongside him looking up in awe. Sadler punted against Nebraska several times. “He was (Sam’s) teammate”.
“Fyfe said Sam understood what it means to wear red in the land of Devaney and Osborne”. He was his roommate on the road. He’s one of the country’s best defensive ends and wants to be an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent when football’s done.
Meyer, Brown and others working the camp didn’t learn the fate of Foltz and Sadler until Sunday afternoon. “We’d like to give our best to those guys and those programs”. “They were in our thoughts”.
Fyfe explained, “For me this is more than just one of my former athletes, it’s somebody who’s been in my auto, been in my Suburban, been in my house, part of my family for many, many years”.

Meyer sounded somber as he shared the questions dogging him. Just take a hold of every second you have and don’t take anything for granted. “It is stuff you can’t harp on because you can’t change it but you feel terrible”. How do you make sense of the senseless?
