Lorde ignored as taxi driver raves about ‘celebrity’ passenger
Lorde, real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor, tweeted about the awkward ride, saying “uber driver now busting a nut about the fact that there was a “celebrity passenger” just before me”.

While taking a ride in an Uber (OMG, she uses Uber too), the driver had no clue who Lorde was and in fact boasted about driving a “celebrity passenger” before her.
“I can tell our ride, by comparison, sparkles significantly less for him”, she added.
The 19-year-old Kiwi did not reveal who her predecessor was, but tweeted that her presence clearly “sparkles significantly less” for the driver.
She finished by saying: “I can feel it from the back seat, his dazed glow”.
“Part of what is really hard about being “new-famous”, as I call it”, she said, “is having to watch the people that you really care about being subjected to the kind of scrutiny that they wouldn’t be normally”.
Lorde’s story prompted fellow singer Ellie Goulding to chime in with a similar anecdote of her own.
“Mine said he had someone from Ellie Gouldings band in earlier. But didn’t like her music soooo”.
Only, he wasn’t excited about Lorde, but the passenger that had just left.
