Congress targets Amit Shah after PM Modi’s jibe at Lalu

He called upon the people to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance government in the upcoming election to see the state on the path to progress and prosperity, claiming all the states under BJP rule were marching ahead in every development indicator.

Observing that Bihar was part of the “BIMARU” states, Modi said BJP governments in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan were able to usher in development and bring the states out of the BIMARU status.

Modi, who made repeated reference to “jungle raj“, the euphemism used for alleged misgovernance during the Lalu-Rabri rule, in his 40-minute speech, cautioned the people against bringing it back after the polls as he highlighted the contradictions plaguing the RJD-JD(U) alliance.

He attacked Chief Minister and Janata Dal-United leader Nitish Kumar and his ally Lalu Prasad of the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

“This election is about making Bihar free from “jungle raj” and an arrogant government”.

BJP general secretary and in-charge of Bihar, Bhupendra Yadav, said, “Nitishji is not disappointed with the BJP but is speaking out of frustration. If you allow jungle raj part two, it will only spell further disaster for the state”, Modi said. “They have drank poison now, they will spew venom on people of Bihar later”. “How a zebra hits any weak raccoon, the same many are eliminated in Bihar”, said Manoj Tiwari. The PM said that the government which ruled the people for 25 years have continued their torture for so long and now should not be given a chance. “Could we hear something on this?”, he said in another tweet.

Regretting that the Centre has not followed established procedure of consultation with the state government on the Governor’s appointment, the Chief Minister said that it has been an established practice that the Union Home Minister consults the Chief Minister of a state and informs him about the Governor’s appointment. “What kind of cooperative federalism is this?” Kumar said.

“The whole country is crying”.

On Modi’s “jungle raj II” remark, Lalu retorted,”This is Mandal Raj II and this is making him nervous”. The apathy of the Bihari bureaucracy at the district and taluk level towards Badh Chala Bihar is palpable everywhere one visits, for nobody is interested in this “extra work” which pays no dividends. “Can Bihar be left in their hands?” he asked.

“The President has been pleased to appoint Ram Nath Kovind as the Governor of Bihar and Acharya Dev Vrat as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh,” a press release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan said
