Michael Reagan identifies himself as the president of The Reagan Legacy Foundation, an author, a motivational speaker and a media contributor. Press Secretary Brady was struck in the right side of his head.
Hinckley, who aspired to be a writer or musician, dropped out of school on more than one occasion and struggled to maintain friendships, relatives said.
Hinckley will face lifetime monitoring by the Secret Service.
Hinckley shot Reagan and three others in Washington, D.C., during an assassination attempt on March 30, 1981.
The people I feel most sorry for are Jodie Foster and the Reagan family, not to mention anyone else Hinckley decides to harass or shoot if his mental illness “returns”. He was found not guilty by reason of mental insanity and committed to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, where he has lived for over three decades. The 61-year-old could start living with his mother full-time in Virginia as early as August 5.
John Hinckley Jr.is shown in a Sept.16, 1982 file photo. On two visits in 2011, Hinckley skipped a movie he was supposed to see and instead went to a bookstore and a fast-food restaurant, lying afterward to hospital staff about where he had been. He can drive, but there are restrictions on how far he can travel.
Here is some background on Hinckley’s life before and after the assassination attempt. He reportedly is seeking full time employment.
“From a mental illness perspective, I just have some reluctance about having him roam free like this”, said Campbell, 77, a retired manager at NASA. His hobbies include painting and playing the guitar and he has recently developed an interest in photography.
A federal judge has issued an order that will allow Hinckley, now 61, “full-time convalescent leave”.
Hinckley Jr. was 25 years old when he attempted to fatally shoot Reagan outside the Washington Hilton hotel, wounding the former president. McCarthy is now police chief of Orland Park.
Do U think John deserves to live freely after what he did?? Hinckley’s father died in 2008.
“If (Tim’s) not there, I’m sure that either I or the president would have been hit (by the third shot) that day”, said Parr, who died a year ago of congestive heart failure at 85.

Hinckley has been allowed to leave the hospital for supervised visits with family members wince the 1990s, and his lawyer has sought his full-time release since 2003, according to the Washington Post. “What would be a tremendous change would be living with your mother as opposed to living on your own for the first time in more than 35 years”.
