Future of Labour Party to be discussed in Hereford

Corbyn has denied such a conversation ever took place, but Conor McGinn, the opposition whip, has insisted the leader of the party said he would call his Sinn Féin-supporting father over complaints about Labour’s direction.

Although the Labour leader said he would offer “a hand of friendship” to his MPs, 80 per cent of whom oppose him, he raised the prospect that they could be deselected before the next general election.

She told the Telegraph: “I think he has contributed to this”.

Owen Smith said “something had gone badly wrong” since Mr Corbyn took charge amid fresh claims of abuse being directed at critics of the leader by activists.

“If we say we are going to start restricting then it works both ways, it will also restrict British people going to live and work in Europe”.

I would like to reply to Councillor Green’s letter of July 14, by saying that I did vote for JC (Jeremy Corbyn, that is) and do think that he is the right person to persuade people to vote Labour at the next general election.

Labour-commissioned analysis said Mr Corbyn needed to gain nominations in order to stand again.

183,000 people have signed up in the last 48 hours to vote in the head-to-head battle, many of whom are suspected to be Corbyn-supporters.

Smith, Labour’s former work and pensions spokesman, said in a Guardian newspaper interview Wednesday that Corbyn was “not up to the job” of challenging Theresa May’s Conservative Party.

Future Labour government will require firms that employ more than 21 people to publish equality pay audits.

She confirmed: “We have been getting so much abuse direct to the office and the advice surgeries are normally done in public, [the police] have sent me an email advising me to cancel them”.

Speaking in Manchester on his first campaign visit today, Mr Smith was set to say: “The Labour Party is Britain’s greatest force for social justice, but we could be consigned to history if we continue along this path to a disastrous split”.

Urging MPs to “get behind the party”, Corbyn promised to tackle inequality, neglect and prejudice if elected prime minister in the 2020 elections. “He just wants to control the Labour Party”.

The Wallasey MP’s local Labour party has already been suspended amid allegations of bullying and abuse, while a brick was thrown through a window of the building where Ms Eagle’s constituency office is based after she announced her challenge to Mr Corbyn.

Smith counts the support of 162 MPs, around 70 percent of the parliamentary party, in his leadership challenge.

But he said that Mr Smith would be “very welcome” after the leadership election to rejoin the shadow cabinet, which he quit along with many other frontbenchers in the wake of the European Union referendum in June.
