In Geneva, the United Nations envoy for Syria said he aims to call a new round of talks between government and opposition envoys in Geneva “toward the end of August”.

Despite the certain progress of the Geneva talks, de Mistura said more details are to be looked at in the next several days and hailed Russia’s and U.S.’ role in it.
He was talking to newsmen after meeting with US Syria envoy Michael Ratney and deputy Russian foreign minister Gennady Gatilov in Geneva, as part of diplomatic efforts to end the Syrian conflict.
De Mistura also said that he had just been in Ankara, and despite the recent coup attempt, the Turkish authorities remain “very serious about focusing on the issue of Syria and are fully aware that there is a need of addressing a political solution there”.
The fighting persisted Tuesday, with government forces seizing a rebel-held neighbourhood on the northwest outskirts of Aleppo, tightening their siege of the opposition-controlled parts of the city.
Syrian government forces and their allies have been on the offensive around the Aleppo, Syria’s largest city and former commercial center, for weeks.
The IDA said the four hospitals that were hit – the children’s hospital, Al-Bayan, Al-Zahraa, and Al-Daqaq – would all be going out of service “as a result of the escalating series of aerial attacks taking place against health facilities in Aleppo by Syrian and Russian warplanes”.
In its Sunday statement, the Foreign Ministry in Syria welcomed the remarks of Kerry made after meeting with Russian officials in Moscow last week.
A cessation of hostilities have been achieved in some areas, save for major frontlines.

The dispute over the Nusra Front has undermined the Russia- and U.S.-brokered truce with fighting continuing to rage in many areas in Syria. De Mistura has been hoping to convene talks in August.
