Acting prodigy James Rolleston has been moved to intensive care at Waikato Hospital.
James Rolleston, the lead actor in the hit New Zealand film Boy, has been injured in a vehicle crash in Bay of Plenty.
The 19-year-old’s condition has improved overnight after the crash which saw the vehicle he was travelling in hit a bridge near Opotiki.
“The family would like to thank all the well-wishers who have sent so many messages of love and support, they are finding this a huge comfort at this time”.
No further details would be released, with Rolleston’s family asking that their privacy be respected, the spokesperson said.
The other person in the auto reportedly had minor injuries. This occupant will be helicoptered to hospital shortly.
Police’s serious Crash Unit is now investigating the crash.
Rolleston was awake and surrounded by family on Wednesday morning and “responding to all the things he needs to respond to”, his agent told the Herald.
