Sam Allardyce set for first news conference as England boss
Whenever there is a new manager, you hope so.

Allardyce replaced Roy Hodgson, who resigned from his post after a awful performance of England at the Euro 2016.
The Manchester United striker has 115 caps to his name and was given the armband in 2014, taking over from Steven Gerrard after that year’s World Cup in Brazil.
Rooney broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time England goalscoring record last season and now has 53 goals in his 115 caps for the national side, but received criticism for his displays in France at Euro 2016 this summer. So bring it on, lads. We need to do what I did at Everton: we need to move right up the table and be more near the top end. You toughen yourself for whatever job you take. You either take the good with the bad or don’t bother.
“I think the bonding of the team is exceptionally important and trying to create a good team spirit”.
“I consider myself to be much more than that but that’s the sort of label I was left with”.
“I can turn things round quickly and get among teams and staff and try to create a successful journey”.
“I’ve managed some world-class players”.
Asked if Rooney could be a first-choice for England if he is forced to play second fiddle to the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Anthony Martial at Old Trafford, Allardyce added: “I don’t know until that happens with anybody, let alone Wayne Rooney”. The loss of form wasn’t due to a lack of passion or determination or desire so I have to identify what went wrong. “For me, it is absolutely the best job in English football”. Since then Allardyce has gone on to manage Newcastle, Blackburn, West Ham and Sunderland and he believes he possesses the requisite experience for the post.
“It’s been a bit of a whirlwind couple of days I have to say”, he said.
“I think that it was 10 years since I was last interviewed and to sit here is a huge thrill for me”. I don’t want to spend too much time on the past, I want to think about the future and improve the young, elite players.
“I think I’m at the right age, with the right experience and hopefully I can pass my knowledge and experience onto the team and the staff working behind the team”.
Allardyce, speaking at his first news conference since his appointment was confirmed last week, said: “It’s far too early to make any predictions in that area”.
Sam Allardyce will attempt to win back fans as England manager after admitting his team need to earn the country’s support.

“Will I wait until I meet the players? I don’t expect a player at this level to only want to play one position and one system”, he said.
