After turmoil, Sanders, Mrs Obama, Warren thrill DNC convention
“He really scares me”.

Kaine, who made his debut as Clinton’s running mate at a joint appearance Saturday, will give a speech introducing himself to the country.
Sizable numbers of Democrats say they’re behind Clinton. While she has often avoided overt politics during her almost eight years in the White House, her frustration with Trump’s rise was evident.
She announced on Sunday that she’d step down from that job at the end of this week’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
As Secretary of State, Clinton helped negotiate the TPP, but now she and Kaine say they oppose the trade pact because it does not meet certain standards on wages and national security.
Prior to hearing 25 positive and negative messages about Kaine, 29 percent of voters said the choice was excellent or good, while another 29 percent thought it was a fair or poor choice.
Like Trump, Clinton has her faithful followers. Even during the invocation, chants of “Bernie” echoed through the arena. That message – and the endorsement of Sanders – has helped the political upstart raise a surprising $2.2 million through June 30, mostly through small donations, after refusing to take money from political action committees.
If there are any fireworks in Philadelphia, expect them to come from Sanders supporters. She delivered the reply mechanically, as she turned her blank smile in my direction without blinking or answering the questions from me or other reporters. The ideal Clinton tool, someone who was recently unemployed by a failed campaign.
The frustration some Sanders’ supporters still have with Clinton – a candidate they see as entrenched in a political system they distrust -was evident, with the crowd breaking into a chorus of boos.
Clinton’s campaign hoped the nighttime line-up would overshadow a tumultuous start to the four-day convention.
Others plan to talk about the Clinton they know, a woman they describe as brilliant, warm and amusing.
They’ll highlight lesser-known parts of her biography, such as her early work as an activist for children and families, her push to expand federal health insurance to millions of children as first lady and her advocacy for 9/11 first responders as a NY senator.
Still, the vice presidential candidate has faced criticism from Catholics for his stances on issues such as abortion and the death penalty.
There’s little question that the lengthy investigations into the 2012 attack on a US facility in Benghazi, Libya, and her use of a private email account and server as secretary of state have taken a toll her approval ratings.
Party wrangles aside, Clinton is within just days of her long-held ambition to become the party’s official presidential nominee.
Obama signed an executive order in 2010 to apply the Hyde Amendment to Obamacare, so that he could secure needed votes from moderate Democrats to pass the health care law. He said he hoped she would be stripped of her speaking role at the convention.
“I’m going to do everything I can to defeat him, to elect Hillary Clinton and to keep focusing, keep focusing on the real issues facing the American people”, Sanders said on CNN. At this point, I don’t think anyone should just trust that all these events surrounding the election are all simple coincidences.
In recent weeks, Clinton has begun to acknowledge that she has a problem. Cory Booker of New Jersey and Labor Secretary Thomas Perez.
“If they think they can win without half the party, let them lose”, said Andrew Fader, 27, of NY, who was wearing a “Bernie” T-shirt on Sunday near the Liberty Bell. “It is certainly true I have made mistakes”.
Since his 2012 election to the Senate, he has had a flawless rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America, though he has supported the Hyde Amendment, which forbids federal funding for most abortions and continues to be included in many federal appropriations bills for abortions.
“This election is so important for Latinos and for Latino voters”, she said.
This week, Hillary Clinton needs to make it a priority to win over progressives.

But Sanders’ aides reached out to the Clinton campaign Monday afternoon to express concerns that supporters would still try to disrupt the proceedings, according to a Democratic official.
