Sanders Supporters Planning Acts of ‘Disobedience’ During Kaine’s Speech at DNC

Meanwhile, Clinton walks into her convention with a news cycle that should have led with her choice of choosing as running mate Democrat Virginia Senator Tim Kaine.

That was the question that spiked on search engines as Bill Clinton delivered a speech about his wife at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. The Chicago Tribune’s headline was “Clinton claims nomination”. It was also an answer to the criticism, levelled during her campaign against Bernie Sanders, that she had come late to progressive issues.

Sanders took the floor in a bid to unify the party, drawing deafening cheers and a chorus of “ayes” when he called for Hillary Clinton to be selected.

As Hillary Clinton herself has said: “I am not a natural politician, in case you haven’t noticed, like my husband or President Obama”. She has embraced Black Lives Matter and criminal-justice reform, spun a decade and a half of support for the Defense of Marriage Act her husband signed into unstinting gay-marriage advocacy, talked about jailing Wall Street executives and morphed abortion from something that should be shrouded in euphemism except when discussing how it should be rare into a more full-throated defense of the practice. Most of it has nothing to do with cheating – but the fact that most primaries and caucuses make it hard and sometimes impossible for independents to participate did mean that the candidate that virtually every poll said would be the stronger candidate in a final election could not actually win the nomination to be in the final election. “I was upset that [the campaign] didn’t take the time to verify their information”. “And she was staring back at me”, remembered Clinton. And I know that we have three, nearly four years to work that out in a way that I believe that we’ll have a better opportunity to bring all Democrats together and make them feel that their vote counts.

This is why I hate party politics. Sen. And Trump won his primary more decisively than did Clinton, and united his party first. So I say, go easy on those “badly behaved” Sanders people. “And with Michelle Obama, we’re going to have someone to answer that phone”. “That is just who she is”, Bill Clinton said of his candidate wife, keeping his audience of thousands of delegates rapt throughout his 45-minute speech, which marked the convention’s halfway point. “I’m Hillary Rodham. Who are you?'” A lot of them are new to the whole thing – and you hope a lot of them will be new, of course.

According to Lewis, Donald Trump’s foreign policy approach is “dangerous for the United States and because it’s risky for the United States, it’s unsafe for Israel”. But on Tuesday night, he hinted, just barely, that Clinton perhaps is finally getting her part of the deal. He really told a story about Hillary Clinton and who she is.

Looking at the way these two women, once at odds, became allies provides insight into why Clinton ultimately emerged as the Democratic nominee: She built a career on winning over former rivals, critics, even enemies.
