The Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs Khaled Al-Attiyah said after a meeting with the US Secretary of State that the region was suffering from the absence of a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni met al-Jubeir in Rome on Friday and told a news conference afterward that Iran can contribute to a solution to the Syrian crisis.

He revealed that President Putin’s initiative was “two-trekked”, proposing both a coalition of people who fight Islamic State militants on the ground and the promotion of a “political process” in order to prevent the incitement of civil war in Syria.

Iranian Vice Foreign Minister Hussein Amirabdollahian said the plan would be turned over soon to the United Nations.

A Lebanese newspaper affiliated with the Hezbollah movement that supports Assad even reported last week that there had been a secret high level meeting between the spy chiefs of Syria and Saudi Arabia, brokered by Russian Federation.

“The trigger for this activity is the Iran deal“, Ghanem Nuseibeh, founder of Cornerstone Global Associates, which advises clients on risk in the Middle East, said from London.

However, the surprise trip in June was widely seen to signal a shift in relations between Moscow and Riyadh.

In the day, Moualem also said that diplomatic efforts are highly important to help Syria solve the crisis in the country.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian put it nicely when he said there has been a “strategic change in the attitude of the regional players with regard to Syria”.

“Nothing can be done to save Syria unless the main parties make a decision to stop fighting” among themselves, said the diplomat.

The nature of this reconsideration is not yet clear, but, according to Al Akhbar, it appears the Russians made the argument to the Saudis that the real risk in Syria is the rise of ISIL and terrorism.

“Because more sanctions won’t produce the results that the critics want”, Obama said, “congressional rejection of this deal leaves any U.S. administration only one option: another war in the Middle East. I say this not to be provocative”.

Cooperation in the fight against Islamic State among the regional states would be more effective than Turkey going it alone, he said. Alistair Baskey, the National Security Council spokesman for the White House, did not disclose specific information regarding the U.S.’s mandate and rules of engagement for the mission, but shared that the goal is to empower the U.S.-trained fighters to continue their assignment safely, through mechanisms such as “defensive fires support to protect them”.
