Joe Biden slams Donald Trump

It was a significant shift in tone after two nights spent reintroducing Clinton to voters as a champion for children and families, and relishing in her historic nomination as the first woman to lead a major political party into the general election.

PHILADELPHIA ― Vice President Joe Biden offered a counterargument to the premise of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s case for the White House with an emphatic declaration that the America is great already ― and that a Trump presidency would jeopardize that.

It’s no secret the sitting vice president has long coveted the Oval Office for himself.

“Does anyone here believe that Donald Trump’s been paying his fair share of taxes? [Obama] clearly articulates how well- prepared [Clinton] is”.

Speaking at the Democratic National Convention, Mr Biden launched a scathing attack on the billionaire tycoon, accusing of him of being inconsiderate and out of touch with ordinary Americans.

The White House says Obama has been working on the roughly 30-minute speech for weeks.

Obama and Clinton were rivals during the 2008 Democratic nomination but Obama appointed her his secretary of state after he was elected as President. “I loved his line that we [are] not ruled as a nation”.

The president even brought up stark comparisons between Ronald Reagan and the Republican nominee, implying that he is not the Reagan-esque nominee Republicans had hoped for.

“I am more optimistic about the future of America than ever before”, Obama said at the Wells Fargo Center. “I’m not going away”.

Biden said he is committed to the middle class. He said if middle class Americans are doing well, then the entire country will prosper. He tore into Trump, mocking his pledges to build a wall along the Mexican border, asking why he has not released his tax returns and slamming his business record, including the now-defunct Trump University.

“That’s the Hillary I know”.

In his final months as the American leader, Obama is particularly aware of his legacy and knows that Clinton, a kindred politico with similar views on fighting terrorism, immigration, health care, abortion, gay rights and climate change, would leave many of his policies in place, while Trump has pledged to nearly immediately undo them.

And Democrats have plenty of fissures too that were blatantly on display Monday with infighting between Clinton and the establishment wing of the party and Sanders backers and a new progressive, increasingly vocal movement. Instead of booing incessantly, hundreds of Bernie Sanders delegates choose instead to leave the convention floor after Hillary Clinton officially became the party’s nominee and later again before Bill Clinton addressed the convention.

The evening’s speakers made a “strong rebuke of what Donald Trump stands for”, Ryan added.

The VP pressed on, turning Trump’s own campaign slogan against him. I “thought he did a great job explaining he started public service at [the] local level and gained experience”.
