Ships rescue 46 people from sinking boat off Alaska islands
All 46 crewmembers were transferred to the merchants ships Spar Canis and Vienna Express to be transported to Adak, Alaska. He says the crew members did not require medical attention.

The Coast Guard said the crew will be flown to Anchorage.
The Coast Guard was unable to conduct a scheduled flyover Wednesday to determine whether the abandoned Juris is afloat because no aircraft was available, according to a Coast Guard spokesman.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, a Good Samaritan vessel is a privately owned ship that gives out aid to other boats in a deliberate way.
The 46 crew members got into life rafts Tuesday and were rescued by two ships that heard the Coast Guard’s emergency broadcast for help.
There were no reports of any injuries.
Schlosser says the ships are expected to arrive at a port in Adak, Alaska, on Wednesday afternoon.
On Wednesday morning, the Ocean Peace and the Seafisher were focused on the North Pacific harvest of Atka mackerel when a distress call prompted a sudden change in mission for the two sister ships.
Conditions on the Bering Sea were calm, but there was low visibility because of heavy fog, Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer Joseph Ayd said. The Spar Canis and the Vienna Express rushed to the scene.
The 220-foot trawler was approximately 690 miles west of Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
At 08:20 PM crew members of Alaska Juris, all 46 people, were rescued.
It wasn’t immediately known what caused the Alaska Juris to begin taking on water, and that will be part of the Coast Guard investigation, Steenson said. “Emergencies can occur at any time in Alaska’s vast and extreme environment, and the good Samaritans’ willingness to respond to the UMIB was paramount to getting the Alaska Juris crew to safety”.
The two Good Samaritan ships were the first to arrive on the scene, after which a Coast Guard cutter, two transport planes and two helicopters were also sent to help.
In March 2012, a fisherman on board the Alaska Juris died after a cable snapped and struck him in the head.

Days later, another cable snapped hitting a crew member in the head and injuring him. The agency flew the trio to Cold Bay, Alaska.
