Dark Souls 3 is a “turning point” for the franchise
Don’t forget that while developer From Software is well known for the likes of Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls and Bloodborne, the team has a past rooted in mechs and sci-fi.

New gameplay footage for “Dark Souls 3” showcases the new combat system in the upcoming game.
Thanks to the videos, fans were able to get a firsthand look at the new enemies they will have to deal with in “Dark Souls 3“, according to iDigital Times.
Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has said that Dark Souls 3 will be the franchise’s “turning point”. Now, any Dark Souls fan might automatically assume that the Lord of Cinder we saw in the trailer might have been Gwyn, the final boss from the first game. True Dark Souls players already know that any slight change in weapon attack speed, shield behaviour or the addition of a weapon move will be a major impact on the gameplay.
If you’re looking for something different or something Bloodborne-like that’s not just for PS4, then Dark Souls 3 isn’t the game for you.
“I do want to work on something new”, he continued.

Speaking to GameSpot, Miyazaki said that the third entry in From Software’s gothic RPG franchise, set for release early next year, would be a “turning point” for the series, which has now sold more than 8.5 million copies worldwide.
