Uttar Pradesh: Fresh rebellion hits Mayawati’s BSP

Hitting back at BSP chief Mayawati, BJP on Sunday said her clarification on the abusive slogans raised by her party workers during a protest rally was “laughable” and demanded that she initiate action against her partymen. Harbinder Sahani alias Romi, an MLA from Palia in Lakhimpur Kheri, and Brijesh Verma, from Bilgram-Mallava in Hardoi, announced their decision to quit the party at a press conference here.

“I condemn these incidents because in a democracy there is no room for abuses and non violence, if anybody utilises this as a tool then I regard them as useless who doesn’t have any issues to raise”, he said.

Meanwhile, the BSP said the accusations were nothing but a bunch of lies and alleged that after being denied tickets the legislators were making false charges.

Sahni said that even the present BSP MLAs were not being spared from this demand and many of them were under great stress and some had fallen sick in view of the persistent demand for money.

In a fresh rebellion in the BSP, two MLAs today accused the party leadership of demanding “huge sums” for allotting tickets for the 2017 UP Assembly polls, prompting the party to suspend them hours after they levelled the allegation. “This is very sad.Money is being demanded through party coordinators”, they alleged. All of them accused her of “auctioning” party tickets.
