State investigating black man’s shooting by cops
A day later, on 6 July, another black man, 32-year-old Philando Castile, was killed in Minnesota when a police officer pulled him over. When police arrived, Kinsey ― a 47-year-old behavioral therapist ― told the cops that he was trying to help the man, who is his 23-year-old patient with autism.

“At my request, as of yesterday, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is taking over this investigation”, he said.
Police were called to a Miami street about a man threatening suicide.
After the recording stopped, one of the officers fired three shots, hitting Kinsey at least once in his leg.
The video does not show the moment of the shooting. Officers can be seen patting down both men, who are now lying on their stomachs.
“All he has is a toy truck”. He was yelling at the officers trying to explain to them that he was unarmed, a behavior therapist and was working with the man who only had a toy truck. He complies fully with police orders. “Rinaldo, please be still, Rinaldo”. “Lay on your stomach”, he calls to the young man. He also urged his patient, who was sitting nearby, to lie down and be still.
“Mr. Kinsey did everything right”, Rivera said. “But why they shot the black boy and not the fat boy?” But it was one meant to calm the fears of a nation besieged with cellphone videos of police shooting and sometimes killing unarmed black men.
Kinsey told WSVN he was flipped over and handcuffed after the shooting.
Kinsey identifies himself, and tells the police “all he has is a toy truck in his hand”, seemingly to prevent the police from thinking his client has a weapon.
When ABC News asked U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch about the shooting Thursday morning, she said, “I am aware of it, and we’re trying to gather all the facts about it so we can determine essentially how that matter will be handled or reviewed”. “This is what I’m thinking”, Kinsey said in an interview with WSVN-TV from his hospital bed on Wednesday.
Kinsey’s attorney, Hilton Napoleon II, claims the city is eager to settle and “resolve it relatively fast in good faith to let the community know that they take these things seriously”.
North Miami police confirmed in a press conference that shots were fired, and the officer is now on administrative leave as they investigate the incident.
Protesters descended on the North Miami Police Department headquarters on Thursday night to voice their anger about the shooting.

Kinsey told reporters that he was more concerned about his patient’s well being during the incident, because he assumed officers would not shoot him if he had his hands up.
