The event in Battle Creek is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. August 2, at Mill Race Park, at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Capital Avenue SW. The effort is described as a good way to advance community-police partnerships while enjoying a summer evening with family, friends and neighbors, Omaha police said.
“In this very hard time facing both the country and law enforcement, it is events such as National Night Out that will bridge the gap and bring us together”, Tornabene said. Various public safety agencies and local organizations will attend.
Bristol-Kendall: Gordon/Thomas, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Concord/Hartfield, 7:45 to 8:45 p.m.
Merriam Police Chief Mike Daniels said the new approach to National Night Out was planned several weeks ago, long before the shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge and other events that have affected police and community relations in some cities.
The 2016 annual National Night Out is set for Tuesday in neighborhoods across the nation, including Omaha.
