Bloomberg warns of Trump economic plans at Dem convention

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg offered Hillary Clinton his resounding endorsement Wednesday night, emerging as her most prominent independent surrogate as he tore into fellow billionaire businessman Donald Trump.

Mr. Bloomberg said “the richest thing about Donald Trump is his hypocrisy”, asserting that he talks tough on trade, but manufactures his own line of clothing in low-wage factories overseas.

“We must unite around a candidate who can defeat a unsafe demagogue”.

“Donald Trump says he wants to run the country like he runs his business”, he said. He did, too, with Trump, who he knew from New York’s glitzy social circuit and from dealings with him as a developer.

Though Bloomberg said that Clinton was “not a flawless candidate”, he praised her work ethic, intelligence and attempts at bipartisanship that made her “the right choice – and the responsible choice – in this election”.

“I’ve built a business and I didn’t start it with a million-dollar check from my father”, Bloomberg said to applause. He argued Trump is a far cry from the business titan he claims, even though the Republican presidential nominee, has been using his business acumen to appeal to voters, attempting to show off his leadership skills. “I am not here as a member of any party”. “And together, let’s elect a sane, competent person”. But the agencies are not sure if the theft was intended as routine cyber espionage or part of a drive to influence the United States presidential election, the Times said, quoting federal officials briefed on the matter.

“I think anybody who goes into campaigns not running scared can end up losing”, Obama said.

He again struck that tone, after taking on Trump, to close out his speech.

Bloomberg joins a long list of Democratic leaders and liberal activists making the case that Clinton is the most experienced candidate for the White House.

“He calls himself a business guy, which is true, but I have to say, I know plenty of businessmen and women who’ve achieved success without leaving a trail of lawsuits, and unpaid workers, and people feeling like they got cheated”.

Sooner or later, of course, someone at the DNC was going to have to lay bare Trump’s record, lest the DNC be nothing more than four days of weird Clinton-worship, capped with a keynote speech delivered by the idol herself.
