They also released more cast details about the Black Panther film which is set to start filming in January. While there weren’t any assets to tease, they did bring out the cast, including star Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, the just-announced Danai Gurira, best known for “The Walking Dead”, and director Ryan Coogler.

Marvel closed things out on a high note, however, with an obligatory all-Marvel photo, including the new Captain Marvel herself — Oscar-winner Brie Larson, who was greeted with a rapturous standing ovation.

One of the most anticipated films of Marvel’s new slate, Doctor Strange has already been teased in previous movies (notably Captain America: The Winter Soldier), and marks the introduction of magic as a major force in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (its use by Scarlet Witch being comparably minor, and Thor’s related magic being specifically explained as high-level science).

The first trailer for Marvel’s Doctor Strange was cool as it gave us our first look at Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme, but it was nearly entirely missing in one important aspect: Sorcery.

The other strangeness will revolve around Pom Klementieff’s Mantis, who few would say much about, but Klementieff did say there had been talks about the character joining the Guardians and potentially having a role in future films. (IMDB lists her as “Christine Palmer”, who is a Marvel character.) Geez, we’ll probably have to go see the movie to find out what the deal is.

Spider-Man: Homecoming, starring Tom Holland, will be a teen comedy, following 15-year-old Peter Parker hiding his superhero alter-ego as he gets through the struggles of homework, girls and puberty.

A trailer revealed for the first time that Sylvester Stallone also has a role in the “Guardians” sequel.
