Natural disaster of 6.2 magnitude hits Afghanistan, tremors felt in Delhi

Many people were seen leaving the house and coming out of the building in Delhi. Anxious people called up their relatives and asked for their well being.

A high-intensity natural disaster struck the Hindukush region in Afghanistan on Monday, tremors of which were felt in several parts of north India including Delhi and Noida. Some of them began to pray as the tremors shook buildings.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the intensity of quake was 6.2 on Richer scale, having a depth of 210 km. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has updated information on its website as regards the quake that hit Afghanistan. So far, there was no report of any loss to life or property from any area of Pakistan.

The tremors continued upto 30 seconds, were felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Mianwali, Sargodah and several other cities and towns in northern parts of Pakistan. The epicentre is reportedly Hindu Kush near Afghanistan.

Jolts were also felt in adjoining areas of JK and Srinagar.
