Instead of making history, Spieth trying to ignore it
Spieth, who turns 23 on Wednesday, squandered a five-shot lead on the back nine at Augusta National last April and let a Masters title slip through his fingers, literally putting the green jacket on England’s Danny Willett. If they win a handful of PGA or European Tour titles, that’s kind of expected.

However, the 28-year-old has a brilliant record in the US PGA after victories in 2012 and 2014 and three other top-eight finishes in seven appearances and fellow Northern Irishman Clarke believes another win is just around the corner. “So have I met them this year?”
The Dungannon man added: “Just because he hasn’t won since the Irish Open, I have no concerns whatsoever”.
Jordan Spieth’s dominant run in last year’s major championships boosted him to world No. 1.
PGA Championship Live Stream Online is on PGA.com.
The American won his first Major title at the US Open in June and his recent form has taken him to number two in the world rankings but while Johnson is taking confidence from his results in June and July, he feels playing on hard layouts brings out the best in him. And if the golf god’s are thinking about getting the world’s third-ranked golfer a new tie or pair of socks, Spieth hopes they might reconsider, and instead gift him a belated present, one in the form of a third major-championship trophy this Sunday.
Making the cut is no easy task.
The look on Jordan Spieth’s youthful face and the mature-beyond-his-years way he conducts himself in public belie the angst that’s been brewing inside of him for much of this year.
The key to reminding everyone of the dominance he displayed a year ago? He earned $17,900 for the week and provided inspiration for the others. “So I still think I’ve got a bit of fight in me”. But he’s a great player and he’s going to be around for another 25 years.
Herman, 38, was a club pro for about four years before he earned a spot on the Web.com Tour in 2008. The only difference between this year and last is that his approach shots into the green are worse. “You can make it here, but are you good enough to stay?”
“Winning a major seems to make or break the entire year, no matter what you’ve done before or after, or how many times you’ve won or not won”.
Fans started equating greatness with not just winning a major, but winning a bunch of majors in a short period of time.
“Obviously we’re looked at differently than the PGA member here, the host clubs, and at every club around the country, and they have a different role and a different job”.
Johnson has finished in the top 10 on four of his last six appearances at the US PGA Championship.
“The more I’ve been myself, the more comfortable I’ve felt out on the course”, he said. “Running the club does. I don’t know the answer”.
“You’re never going to get to the point where you’re maxed out in your ability and how you’re playing, so there’s always that strive to become better”.
What will Baltusrol serve up this week at the PGA Championship? He missed the British Open playoff by one shot and was runner-up to Jason Day in the PGA Championship. Still, he was very impressive to watch, the way he worked around the greens.

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. >> Jordan Spieth walked with objective down the long corridor toward his locker, not stopping to look at the photos and scorecards that cover more than a century of golf history at Baltusrol.
