Poaching case: Salman Khan’s missing driver reiterates he saw actor shoot deer

In a twist to events, Salman Khan’s driver Harish Dulani, who reportedly went missing has reappeared.

Salman was recently acquitted of poaching charges, but will one of his drivers again put a spoke in the works? He said Salman did kill the chinkaras and he was a witness to the slaying.

Dulani had driven the auto that Salman used in 1998, while he was in Rajasthan for a film shoot.

His statement was discredited as implausible by the court, which also found that he was never available for cross-examination.

Defence counsel HM Saraswat said Dulani made a last appearance in court during the trial on March 20, 2002 and thereafter left without completion of the arguments, so the defence could not cross-examine him. The eye-witness was missing and Salman’s bullets were still present.

This act invited proceedings against Dulani for going back and forth on his statement, for which he has been appearing. Dulani told media that he is ready to go to the court and testify.

“I have been punished for being Salman’s driver. I still maintain that it was Salman who hunted”.

“How could he be acquitted? That was what I always intended”, he added.

While arguing the case in the court, Khan’s lawyer had contended that the actor had been falsely framed in these cases, merely on the statements of Dulani. “I was not absconding but I was scared due to several threats received by me and my father”, he told NDTV.

“Please ensure my protection; I do not have a lot of knowledge about legal matters”.

There were rumours Dulani is “bought over” to save the actor. “I stand firm with it.” he said. “The reality is I don’t even have a passport”, he said. He claimed that every time he tried to attend a hearing of the case in court, he was threatened.
