Fabregas sent off but Chelsea beat Liverpool

The Belgium worldwide completed a £34m move to the west London side from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille earlier this month after weeks of speculation.

The 24-year-old Spaniard cut it back for Roberto Firmino, who got the ball stuck under his feet and couldn’t pull the trigger.

And Spanish midfielder Fabregas posted the above selfie on his Snapchat account (@cescky4) along with Batshuayi and France striker Loic Remy.

“But this season he’ll have that team covering the ground, getting the ball back better than anybody else in the league because the fitness levels are going to be right up there”. “The situation’s not too cool but injuries happening in games like this in the pre-season, that’s the biggest problem”. “I’m sorry for him, I’m sorry for the Liverpool player”.

“They started getting hamstring injuries and such like but he’s had pre-season with them now and in his first pre-season he can actually get them hitting the ground running, they’ll be hard to beat when the campaign starts”.

The match was feisty for a friendly, with the referee issuing six yellow cards, and Fabregas was deservedly sent off for a late lunge on Klavan in the 70th minute.

Liverpool continued to press for an equaliser late on, but, despite some promising play in the final-third, the side lacked any final product without an out-and-out number nine.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and midfielder Cesc Fabregas have apologised to Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan after the Spain worldwide was sent off for a reckless challenge in the teams’ global Champions Cup clash. It can happen. It’s unlucky but it’s not too good for us’.

The only downside was the dismissal of Fabregas, for his flying challenge on Ragner Klavan.

Liverpool made a host of changes in the second half, most notably with captain Jordan Henderson returning to club action, having been given extended rest following Euro 2016.

“He almost missed the departure of Liverpool [on the plane from Liverpool to San Francisco], he missed a training session and was late for a team meal”, Klopp ranted. And this 20 per cent, most of the time, was the last pass.
