Nintendo post-Pokemon plunge could go a lot farther

Nintendo’s stock doubled in value after the release of the game but they plummeted after the company reminded investors that it didn’t make Pokemon Go.

Even with yesterday’s decline, Nintendo’s shares are still up some 60 per cent compared with levels before the game’s July 6 launch in the United States, Australia and New Zealand, adding almost US$12 billion in market value.

While Marvel and DC duked it out at the San Diego Comic-Con 2016 with impressive trailers for Dr. Strange and Justice League, fans of Pokemon GO received some fairly interesting news about the game’s future.

But it simply didn’t have a direct hand in this release (although it did, along with Google, invest many millions in the game’s publisher, Niantic, as it worked on Pokemon Go).

On Friday, Nintendo put out a statement pointing out that it owns only 32 percent of the voting power of The Pokémon Company, an affiliated company that holds the ownership rights to Pokémon.

Nintendo Co. posted its worst drop in 26 years after the company poured cold water on the notion that the explosive popularity of Pokemon Go would translate into steady profits. Hong Kong became the second place in Asia where players get to play the Pokemon Go game.

The media outlet highlights that this addition by Niantic Labs “Pokemon GO” inherits from an intrinsic feature of the classic Nintendo game. This wearable device will connect to the app via Bluetooth and sends a vibration when a game notification is triggered, allowing the user to stay in the game when not using their smartphone. Well that all ties back into Nintendo stock, as well as their desire to be totally honest with their investors.

By now, many “Pokemon Go” players have chosen their teams but now, those teams have leaders to go along with them. “Nintendo has other world-known characters such as Mario and Zelda – when they begin to appear on smartphones, we can expect a boost to earnings”.
