“Youree Del Cleomill Harris, more popularly known as Miss Cleo, died peacefully on July 26, 2016, after a valiant battle with cancer”, a statement read. Miss Cleo, whose real name was Youree Dell Harris, was 53 years old. She was moved to hospice care last week. “She got embarrassed. She had to go get something to drink”, Harris said.

But even after her television career as Miss Cleo ended, Harris said she would still be treated affectionately by fans.

Her catchphrase “Call me now!” cemented Cleo as a cult icon.

She spent the end of her life working as a spiritual adviser, and she is survived by her two children as well as an unknown number of grandchildren. For Slate, Dahlia Lithwick wrote about being scammed by the Miss Cleo empire, and was astonished that people weren’t complaining Miss Cleo wasn’t actually a psychic.

Most recently, Harris hosted an internet radio show in Florida, and in 2002 she voiced a character in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. She was also married to a man when she was 19.
