Palaniappan said she was happy to see Clinton adopting some of the policies Sanders promoted in his campaign, saying she believes Sanders can unite the party, but also added, “I think we also need to be able to listen to each other”.

An outspoken critic of using torture and favoring civil trials for suspected terrorists, Hutson said the next President must keep in mind the greatest American strength is its humanity.
For Democrats, Obama’s address moment was steeped in symbolism, the passing of the baton from a barrier-breaking president to a candidate trying to make history herself.
Mr Obama robustly vouched for Mrs Clinton’s readiness to be commander in chief, saying “no matter how daunting the odds, no matter how much people try to knock her down, she never, ever quits”.
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will recommend Hillary Clinton to independent voters.
With folksy charm, he ridiculed Mr Trump’s list of promises and imitated one of the Republican candidate’s favourite phrases.
JUAN GONZÁLEZ: The second night of the Democratic National Convention ended with a short message from Hillary Clinton, who spoke from NY.
In her acceptance speech tonight, Hillary Clinton has a huge opportunity to detail key differences between her approach to being president of the United States – and that of Donald Trump.
He warned that the billionaire businessman is unprepared for the challenges that would await him in the Oval Office.
He touched off a firestorm by encouraging Russian Federation to meddle in the presidential campaign – even as he dismissed suggestions from Obama and other Democrats that Moscow was already acting on the Republican’s behalf.
But despite Bill Clinton’s gallant effort to paint his wife-a former First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State-as someone who fights relentlessly to change the world for the better, and whose success as a woman in politics paves the way for future generations of women to follow their dreams, these newspapers found it prudent to feature pictures of Bill while announcing Hillary’s nomination.
To be sure, Hillary Clinton does benefit from having President Obama, Vice President Biden and former President Clinton – each with a strong base of support – in her camp. This is a theme the Democrats have been emphasizing throughout the convention and will continue to as the week goes on.
Biden described Trump’s claim to care about the middle class as “a bunch of malarkey”.
It was a classic Obama text, extolling the simple virtues of diverse Americans coming together to make their lives better, and building on a night of patriotic gestures, to contrast with Trump’s apocalyptic depiction of a United States in crisis.
Kaine also picked up the traditional attacking role of the presidential ticket’s No. 2. “I want someone with the proven strength to persevere, someone who knows this job and takes it seriously, someone who understands that the issues a president faces are not black and white and can not be boiled down to 140 characters”, she said. “Our nation is too great to put it in the hands of slick-talking, empty-promising, self-promoting, one-man wrecking crew”.
After an unruly start in Philadelphia, the second day of the Democratic National Convention aimed to unify Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders supporters. Several delegates held up anti-TPP signs as he spoke.
The Democratic National Convention is halfway over, and after a hefty dose of drama in the first two days, it will feature some serious political star power in the final days.
But Trump launched a pre-emptive attack at an incendiary press conference, contemptuously putting down Obama as a “disaster” and making a provocative call for Russian Federation to hack Clinton’s email. The Democrats’ platform heading into this election is a showcase for many of Sanders’ concerns.

Jordan Davis’ mother, Lucia McBath said Clinton was equipped to take on criminal justice reform and limit the number of “heartbroken mothers”. In both his campaigns, Obama carried more than 90 per cent of black voters, the overwhelming majority of Hispanics, and more than half of young people and women.
